Prior to the delivery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
\n
\n

Pregnancy checkup: 1st trimester<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Details regarding your first trimester appointment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Meeting with the nurse who, considering your needs and concerns, will be able to answer all your questions as well as your family\u2019s questions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The nurse performs the blood tests requested by your doctor. Afterwards, the nurse will contact you by telephone to communicate each of your results directly to you for you to plan the next steps together.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • During this first medical visit, the doctor will take a full medical history and perform a complete physical examination. Together, you can discuss future exams and analyses, and a preventive work withdrawal if applicable to your situation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Our team will inform you and answer all your questions about the Quebec Prenatal Screening Program. This program aims to detect genetic abnormalities through prenatal fetal DNA testing. These tests are available in our clinics at an additional cost.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Finally, we’ll listen to your baby’s heartbeat (from 10 weeks) and perform the viability ultrasound.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Pregnancy follow-ups: 2nd and 3rd trimester<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    Details regarding the pregnancy follow-ups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Pregnancy follow-ups are recommended every month until the 32nd week of pregnancy, then at shorter intervals until delivery.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • At each appointment, we discuss upcoming exams, lab tests, and ultrasounds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Pregnancy follow-up is offered up to delivery or up to the 3rd<\/sup>  trimester, at your discretion. You will then be referred to the birthing center.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • If you are between 28 and 32 weeks pregnant, you can receive the dcaT vaccine (diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • At 27 weeks, you will be tested for gestational diabetes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Other vaccines or tests may be recommended by your doctor at an additional cost (e.g. flu shot).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

      After the delivery<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Postpartum follow-up exam<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      This examination for mother and baby is recommended 6 to 8 weeks after delivery. It can be combined with the 8-week follow-up examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
