ADHD management<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Attention deficit disorder, with or without hyperactivity, (ADHD) goes beyond the simple lack of concentration or agitated behaviour observed in children and adults. It is explained by genuine neurochemical and neuroanatomical abnormalities, often hereditary, which can be detected and assessed to learn how best to manage it.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

ADHD in young people<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

ADHD affects between 5% and 9% of children and adolescents in Quebec, and the phenomenon is constantly on the rise. ADHD causes difficulties in completing tasks such as homework, sitting for long periods, remembering instructions and responsibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ADHD can also lead to difficulty regulating emotions and knowing how to behave in general. Young people living with ADHD face more disciplinary measures and are almost three times more likely to drop out of school than others.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

    ADHD in adults<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    In more than half of all cases, ADHD is a condition that will persist into adulthood. American studies estimate that up to 70% of people with ADHD are at risk of being treated for depression, and are two to three times more affected by sleep disorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    ADHD may also explain dependence on certain addictive substances, risky sexual behavior, difficulty in completing projects, managing multiple tasks, and behaving appropriately socially and professionally.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
