Vaccinations and tropical diseases
Some exotic countries may present specific health risks. Malaria, dengue fever and intestinal infections such as tourista are common when traveling in tropical regions. So it’s important to get vaccinated against certain infections, such as hepatitis A and B, typhoid, yellow fever and Japanese encephalitis, depending on your destination. It is advisable to inform yourself several weeks in advance, as some vaccinations require a delay to be fully effective.
Please note that our clinics do not offer travel vaccination services, and we advise you to consult a clinic specializing in travel health for the appropriate information and vaccinations. We do, however, offer basic vaccinations such as whooping cough, influenza, shingles and diphtheria-tetanus at our facilities.
Countries to avoid during pregnancy
Pregnant women in particular need to take precautions. Certain destinations, particularly in South America and Southeast Asia, present an increased risk of transmission of the Zika virus, which can lead to birth defects. It is therefore recommended to avoid these areas during pregnancy. To view current Zika cases and risk areas, please visit this link.
We also we offer pregnancy follow-up at our Laval clinicwhere you can receive the advice and care you need for a worry-free pregnancy.
A pre-departure check-up
Before any trip, it’s a good idea to have a full medical check-up, especially if you have a medical history or feel unsure about your general state of health. This check-up will give you peace of mind, ensuring that you’re ready for the adventure. It will also help you identify necessary treatments and avoid unexpected medical expenses. It’s the perfect opportunity to check that everything is in order before you fly, so that your vacation is as enjoyable as possible.
We offer complete health check-ups for adults and children in our 3 clinics.
