Mental health is everyone’s business

Symptoms that speak volumes

Feeling overwhelmed? Are you constantly consumed by worry? Are you having trouble getting to sleep? Or have you noticed that your child has lost interest in his favorite activities? Stress, anxiety, insomnia, exhaustion and isolation are all conditions that can lead to depression if left undiagnosed or inadequately managed, even in young people.

Mental disorders: not just for adults

Not only adults can be affected by mental health problems, but also teenagers and children: sleep or eating disorders, ADD/ADHD, performance anxiety, behavioral problems, etc. According to the Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal, “[…] one in five Quebecers will be affected in one way or another by mental illness during his or her lifetime.” However, getting help in the first few months after the onset of symptoms increases the chances of a quicker recovery. If you notice any change, however small, in the general behaviour, state or mood of yourself or a loved one, don’t hesitate to talk about it and consult a professional.
