Are Canadian men in good health?

Most Canadians are convinced that they are a healthy nation. However, the statistics are rather worrying, especially for men:

  • Men are 79% more likely to die of cardiovascular disease.
  • Men are 57% more likely to die of diabetes.
  • 67% of Canadian men are obese.
  • Men account for 82% of alcohol-related deaths.
  • Men account for 80% of successful suicides in Canada.

Contrary to popular belief, only 30% of chronic diseases are caused by genetics. In fact, lifestyle is responsible in 70% of cases. Fortunately, more than two-thirds of these diseases can be prevented by adopting healthy lifestyle habits.

Special care for men

June 12 to 18 is Men’s Health Week, a nationally-recognized event organized by the Men’s Health Foundation of Canada (MHF). The goal of this event is to raise men’s awareness of the importance of taking small steps that will have a positive impact on their health.

With this in mind, the team at LeBlanc + Savaria invites all men to take care of themselves. In less than an hour, you can have an annual check-up to detect diseases such as diabetes and cholesterol, as well as colon and prostate cancer. We also offer comprehensive physical examinations, as well as personalized advice– on physical activity, mental health or diet, for example – to improve our patients’ lifestyles. Take control of your health with our specially tailored care for men.
