STOP flu viruses

Every year, the flu affects millions of Canadians. This common contagious respiratory illness is easily transmitted and can cause a number of symptoms, including fever, cough, headache, runny nose, muscle aches and fatigue. Although most people fully recover from the infection within ten days, some are at risk of serious complications, often caused by a weakened immune system. That’s why the team at LeBlanc + Savaria recommends that everyone in these categories receive the flu vaccine:

  • children under 5, especially babies aged 6 to 23 months;
  • chronically ill people aged 2 to 60 (including pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy), people with heart or lung disorders, or special medical conditions such as diabetes, cancer, asthma or seizure disorders;
  • healthy pregnant women, during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy;
  • women who have been in labor for 4 weeks or less;
  • people aged 60 and over.

Protection for you, your family and those around you

Vaccination remains the best way to protect against complications from influenza viruses. To reduce the risk of contamination, we also recommend that you get vaccinated:

  • relatives of the above-mentioned persons, including their carers;
  • relatives of infants under 6 months of age;
  • healthcare workers.
